Shredsec’s off-site shredding service provides secure, cost-effective document destruction. We collect your confidential waste from your premises and transport it to our shredding facility for processing. You receive a Certificate of Destruction confirming compliant disposal – without the cost of a mobile shredding truck visiting your site.
For most organisations, off-site shredding delivers the same security standards as on-site shredding at a lower price point.
How Off-Site Shredding Works
1. Scheduled or On-Demand Collection Our uniformed operatives arrive at your premises and collect bagged/boxed material (for one-off jobs).
2. Secure Transportation Your documents travel in our locked, GPS-tracked vehicle.
3. Processing at Our Secure Facility Within 24 hours of collection, your documents are fed into our industrial cross-cut shredders. We operate to DIN Level 3 security standard, producing particles that cannot be reconstructed.
4. Certificate of Destruction You receive a certificate confirming: collection date, shredding date, weight processed, security level achieved, and destruction reference number.
5. Environmentally Responsible Recycling All shredded material is baled and sent to our recycling partner, where it’s processed into new paper products.
Chain of Custody Security
Although your documents leave your premises before shredding, our chain of custody procedures ensure security at every stage:
Collection:
- Signed collection receipt
- Material transferred in locked containers
- Vehicle GPS-tracked throughout
Transportation:
- Locked compartment in dedicated vehicle
- Direct route to shredding facility
- No overnight storage in vehicles
- Materials logged on arrival
At our facility:
- Secure premises with restricted access
- CCTV monitoring
- Material processed within 24 hours
- Destruction logged and certificated
After shredding:
- Shredded material baled immediately
- Transferred to recycling partner
- Certificate issued to customer
Our processes comply with BS EN 15713 (Secure Destruction of Confidential Material).
Off-Site vs On-Site: Making the Right Choice
| Consideration | Off-Site Shredding | On-Site Shredding |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Lower | Higher |
| Witness destruction | No | Yes |
| Space required | Minimal | Truck parking |
| Time at premises | 10-15 minutes | 30 mins - 2 hours |
| Security level | DIN Level 3 | DIN Level 3 |

Off-site shredding is ideal for:
- Cost-conscious organisations
- Premises with limited parking/access
- Standard confidential business documents
- Regular scheduled collections
- Businesses without witness-destruction policies
Consider on-site shredding if:
- Your security policy mandates witnessed destruction
- You handle highly sensitive data (medical, legal, financial)
- Clients or regulators require proof documents never left your control
- Professional indemnity insurance specifies on-site destruction
Benefits of Off-Site Shredding
Lower cost Without the need to bring a mobile shredding truck to your premises, off-site shredding typically costs 30-40% less than on-site services.
Minimal disruption Collection takes just 10-15 minutes. No truck parking needed, no noise from shredding equipment, no extended visit.
Same security standards Your documents are shredded to DIN Level 3 standard – identical to our on-site service. The shredded output is the same confetti-sized particles.
Flexible scheduling We can collect early morning, during office hours, or after close of business. Fit collections around your operations.
Facility Security
Our shredding facility maintains rigorous security:
- Restricted access – Key-card entry, visitor logging
- CCTV monitoring – 24/7 recording
- Alarmed premises – Intruder detection
